The main components of a EV Charger include the following key parts:


  • Pile structure: The pile body of a charging pile is usually made of materials such as steel and aluminum alloy, which have strong durability and stability, and can protect the internal components of the charging pile from external environmental influences.

  • Charging module: This is the core part of the charging station, including components such as the charger, controller, and power supply. The charger is responsible for converting AC power into DC power suitable for charging electric vehicles, while the controller adjusts charging current, voltage, and other parameters based on the charging needs and status of the electric vehicle to ensure the safety and stability of the charging process.

  • Display screen and operation interface: The display screen is used to display information such as the status, charging progress, and charging cost of the charging station. Some charging stations are also equipped with touch screens to facilitate user interaction. The operation interface includes operation buttons, card readers, emergency stop buttons, etc. Users can select charging modes, start charging, set parameters, etc. through these interfaces.

  • Connecting cables: Connecting cables are the bridge between charging stations and electric vehicles, responsible for transmitting electrical energy and data. The quality and length of cables directly affect charging efficiency and safety. Some high-end charging stations are also equipped with automatic cable reels for convenient use by users.

  • Charging connectors: The charging connectors or charging guns are designed for plugging in the different types of electric vehicles. There are different type and standards such as Type 1 (J1772), Type 2 (Mennekes), CCS (Combined Charging System), etc. for vehicles from different countries and areas. And it is necessary to use an adapter for different standards connectors.

  • Safety protection device: including leakage protection, overcurrent protection, overvoltage protection and other devices, which can automatically interrupt the charging process when abnormal situations are detected, protecting the safety of charging piles and electric vehicles.


  • Accounting management and billing module: Calculate the current consumption amount based on real-time electricity prices and consumed electricity data, collect fees, and print bills. The implementation of this function requires the cooperation of a controller and an embedded printer.


  • Communication module: used for communication with electric vehicles, transmitting control signals, charging parameters, and status information. The communication method can be power line communication (PLC) or wireless communication (such as Wi Fi, Bluetooth, etc.) to achieve data exchange between charging stations and electric vehicles.


  • Other supporting components include indicator lights, air filters and fans, access switches, auxiliary power supplies, etc. These components also play an important role in the operation and maintenance of charging stations.


These components work together to ensure the normal operation and efficient functioning of the charging station, while also providing security and a user-friendly operating experience.
